Greene Contempoary Art - Sarasota, FL 3/06

Best show yet, Best gallery yet.
I'm very lucky to represented by Greene here in Sarasota. I never thought that I would show in SRQ, but Jonathan Greene had the cojones to take me on and host a very handsome and comprehensive exhibition.

The space is perfect for my large works.

My signature was blown up and applied graphically above Tube & Clamp - pretty cool.

If you're a shrewd viewer of my website you may notice that this piece is nowhere else to be found on my website. I'm working on a section that is tentatively titled "New Directions" where this piece would otherwise appear. I'm waiting until I finish a few other pieces - I have several WIPs waiting for completion.

Cazenovia College, NY - September 2003

This is the biggest show, work -wise, that I've ever had. The gallery could was able to house almost every large piece that I had at the time.

621 Gallery - Tallahassee, FL - February 2005

I'll confess that I had low expectations for this show, but the gallery was awesome. I shared the huge cavernous space with two artists, one of whom I was singularly impressed with - Zoe Charlton. But as you can see, I got front billing. There was a disclaimer at the front door of the gallery warning parents about the "content" of the show. All and all it was great experience.

Arnot Art Museum - Regional Gallery - July 2002

I was sure that this was going to be the crowning jewel in my resume at the time. I was also certain that this little show would be my "in" into the Arnot's next seminal biennial exhibition titled Re-Presenting Represenation. I guess John O'Hern (curator of the biennial) did not feel the same way.  Before this I thought he was a visionary - after the Biennial that followed I thought he should have his vision checked. I was not in it, of course, but a lot of questionable work was.

CNYCAC Gallery - Utica, NY - January 2002

That's little Riley Grey Board (age 1) checking out Daddy's art at the close of the reception: The Melissa Drexler Altarpiece and The Solipsist. I'm told that The Solipsist is the largest piece ever hung in the CNYCAC gallery, and it's not really hung - you can see little boards propping it up on the floor.
Ohio State University - Mansfield -  2003

This was a joint exhibition with a sculptor duo. Nice gallery, but when I showed up for the reception the director said to me, "What are you doing here?" I guess not many people even witness their own shows in Ohio. I won't bother to unleash a bunch of Ohio jokes.

Riley is particularly proud of this painting that she is standing next to.. She tells people, "That's my butt!"

Earlville Opera House Gallery - Earlville NY - 2003

Here's another place that I had low expectations for, but it turned out really nice. Earlville is this one-horse town in upstate New York that you can't even drive through by accident and they like to host edgy, thought provoking art exhibitions. The space isn't that big, but it's north-lit and wide open. In fact, what you see here in this pic is half the show.
